What is the DOM

DOM stands for document object model it's a structure who represent your HTML file who can be used to connect webpages to scipts like javascript. Imagine each HTML elements like a box and for each of this elements there is an object in the DOM that we can access and interact with.

DOM is different from javascript

It's important to understand that the DOM is not provides by javascript the DOM is an API provide by the web browser, the role of javascript is simply to give methods and properties to manipulate this elements.

Document object

We know that our web browser give us an API the DOM to manipulate our HTML elements but how we can access this elements with javascript ? Well in the js engine there is an object who was created to represent this elements it's the document object.
